“Independent Living” is the first radio show in the U.S. to be dedicated entirely to disabilities. The show provides an in depth, three hour program dedicated to disability rights, culture and the independent living philosophy.
The show offers information about; American with Disabilities Act laws, services, programs and activities in the community and around the world for people with disabilities. The program includes stories of and by people with physical and mental disabilities who have successfully achieved full re-integration into society. Programming includes interviews with legislators, community leaders, health professionals, social service providers and others. The radio show has become the central hub and outreach leader of the Illinois Department of Human Services’ Latino Disability Collaborative.
